I love this letter we got from Elder Wadsworth today!
It helps me want to try harder and do better :)
"Hey everyone! Being a missionary is pretty great. We get to go around inviting people to find happiness through knowing God and living his commandments. There's nothing more fulfilling, but it doesn't last forever. Everyone that is eligible should do it.
My companion is great. The weather is great. The people are great here.
Saturday night we got home like 5 minutes before 9 and we didn't want to quit before 9 so we decided to make some calls, but ended up meeting a bunch of people instead. The last person we met was Sara who I'd talked to a few times before. She was limping because she broke her leg, so we started talking about that and then I don't even know what happened, but she started telling us about her drinking problem and that she been trying really hard to quit for 3 months. She started drinking when she was 15. We gave her the church's 12-step book and a book of Mormon and talked for about 20 minutes with her mostly reassuring her that God doesn't hate her and that He'll help her change. It's the best feeling to know that you have or can help someone.
We see people everyday who we don't know besides that they are our brother or sister. I guarantee we knew them before this life and that we're all here at the right time. When we love God we want to share his love with others and that's what drives me to talk to anyone even though I couldn't even open my mouth a year ago. I love this quote from Preach My Gospel: "When you are filled with charity, you obey God’s commandments and do all you can to serve others and help them receive the restored gospel." Christlike Love is a gift. We don't receive it when others change their behavior, but when we stop judging their behavior.
